HIPAA & data privacy assessment
Show what your staff know about protecting data.
An annual knowledge assessment for your staff on HIPAA privacy rules and Minnesota data-practices law, with a certificate of completion for everyone who passes.
The problem
- Staff sat through training once, and nobody can show what they remember.
- Keeping track of who has done this year’s assessment means chasing people by email.
- When a county contract or a reviewer asks for evidence, it’s scattered across inboxes and spreadsheets.
How it works in PRIAM
From invitation to certificate.
Step 1
Invite your staff
An administrator adds your organization and invites staff, one at a time or many at once. Each person receives an email invitation with a link to the assessment.

Step 2
Staff take the assessment
Staff sign in with just their email address. Each person answers 25 questions drawn at random from a larger bank, in about 30 minutes, and progress is saved. Scenarios cover HIPAA and Minnesota’s Government Data Practices Act, written for social-services and coaching roles.
Step 3
Certificates and tracking
A score of 80% or more issues a PDF certificate of completion, valid for 12 months, to download from the results page. Administrators track completion by organization.
What it is, and what it isn’t
- A knowledge assessment that checks what staff know about protecting data.
- It doesn’t collect or store anyone’s health information.
- It doesn’t make your organization, or PRIAM, HIPAA certified or HIPAA compliant.
Who uses it
- HR or compliance administratorInvites staff and tracks completion.
- StaffComplete the assessment once a year.
- Owners and leadershipUse completion records as evidence for contract and licensing reviews.
Questions
Is this HIPAA training?
It’s an assessment: it checks what staff know rather than teaching the material. Many organizations use it alongside their own training.
Do staff need a PRIAM account?
No. They sign in with only their email address.
What happens if someone doesn’t pass?
They can take it again, and a retake brings questions they haven’t seen yet.
